Legal Separation is an arrangement when a couple remain married, but live apart, following a court order. If you and your spouse are legally separated, your spouse will not be able to immigrate with you through the Diversity Visa program. You will not be penalized if you choose to enter the name of a spouse from whom you are legally separated.

If you are not legally separated by a court order, you must include your spouse even if you plan to be divorced before you apply for the Diversity Visa. Failure to list your eligible spouse is grounds for disqualification.

If your spouse is a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, do not list him or her in your entry.

Photos

You can take an electronic photo, submit a photo link, or upload a recent photo.

Your DV lottery photo must meet the same requirements as a U.S. visa photo. If your photo is more than 6 months old, has been edited, or does not meet the requirements, you will not be eligible to participate in the DV lottery.

The photo format must be JPEG. Other formats, such as PNG, GIF, or BMP, will not be accepted. Before uploading the file, make sure it is saved in JPEG format.

The photo must be smaller than 240 KB in size. Larger files will not be accepted. If necessary, reduce the file size while maintaining its quality.

The photo must be square, meaning its width and height must be equal. The size must be at least 600 x 600 pixels and no more than 1200 x 1200 pixels. Make sure your photo meets these dimensions to be uploaded successfully.

If I win, how long do I have to apply for the visa?

No. If you do not meet the requirements and the visa is not issued, the fee paid will not be refunded.

If I pay the visa fee but do not get the visa, will my money be refunded?

No. The U.S. does not cover travel, housing, medical, or other expenses. You must demonstrate financial responsibility yourself.

If I receive a visa, will the U.S. help with expenses and settlement?

Very rarely, but it is possible. You should check your status regularly until September 30 of the following year.

Can a negative result change to a positive one?

This is a unique number that a winning lottery participant receives. Its value affects the order of the interview.

What does 'Case Number' mean?

A high school diploma or a certificate/diploma recognized by the Ministry of Education is required. Alternatively, the applicant can prove at least two years of work experience in the last five years in a field that requires a two-year training course.
